These chocolate covered dates with almonds are the perfect choice when you have to satisfy your sweet tooth. They are made in minutes, they are way healthier than the store bought candy and they are super delicious. Before diving in the recipe, let’s see what the main benefits of dates and almonds are.
Both dates and almonds are considered super foods, are rich in fiber and contain high amounts of vitamins and minerals.
Dates are best known for promoting digestive health due to the high content of fiber, which is essential for colon health. In addition to promoting colon health, fiber is also known to promote heart health. Dates are rich in magnesium, and magnesium has anti inflammatory benefits and helps reduce blood pressure and lowers the stroke risk.
The healthy mono saturated fats found in almonds help prevent heart disease and heart attacks. Almonds are considered to be one of the best brain foods out there. The healthy fats and dietary fiber also help in the weight loss process as they help keep you full and prevent overeating. Almonds also help control blood sugar levels and prevent diabetes.
- 20 dates
- 20 almonds
- 150 gr dark chocolate (melted)
Remove the pit from the dates and fill each date with an almond. Then cover each date in chocolate. Place them on a parchment paper and place them in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to let the chocolate harden.
I use raw chocolate. For the chocolate I use the following recipe:
100gr cocoa/coconut butter
2 Tbsp raw cacao
2 Tbsp maple syrup (or honey, agave)
1 pinch of salt
I melt the butter, add the other ingredients and whisk well until everything is well combined. It’s as easy as that.
