These crispy healthy fries with cornmeal are a great alternative to the oily, greasy, unhealthy fries. I love french fries. I always have and most probably always will. I grew up eating fries and I have enjoyed every bite I ever had. But I know the health consequences and I try to eat healthy alternatives (although, I now always succeed). This recipe is my favorite. They have the same taste, as fried fries, but they are so much healthier. I can say that they are healthy fries 🙂
- 1-2 tbsp of oil of your choice (I have tried sunflower, olive and coconut)
- Himalayan salt to taste
- 1 tbsp of oregano
- 1 tbsp of cornmeal
Peel and slice potatoes as you wish. I prefer bigger chunks, as they are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Some prefer them all crisp. Add the oil, salt, oregano and cornmeal over them, mix them well and place them over a baking sheet in a tray. Place them in the oven and bake until crisp.
You can replace the oregano with rosemary, paprika, garlic and any other spice or herb you prefer.
I like to serve mine with garlic sauce or with mayo.
